Pastels
For now, I have to admit that canvas is my favorite surface for drawing with soft pastels. There is this ethereal softness that you can achieve as the pigment becomes enmeshed into the fibers of the canvas itself that I have not been able to achieve with any of the paper surfaces that I've tried. I like that the weave of the fabric remains an integral part of the composition, even though it makes some of the finer details more difficult to achieve (at least when working on a small scale).

eBay
On occasion, I offer a few items for sale on eBay and have tried marketing on Etsy, including some art items, and it serves as a means to repurpose other things that I no longer need. I find that listing items on eBay is quite simple and intuitive, plus it offers more complex listing options. For the 2.5 x 3.5 inch miniature art collectibles knows as ACEOs (Artist Cards, Editions and Originals), it is a well-known venue, and I've begun to develop a following for my own miniatures.

Art Cards, Editions and Originals
We artists delight in swapping Artist Trading Cards (ATCs), which in theory are only traded and NEVER sold, and collectors of miniature art go the route of purchasing (art card, editions and originals; ACEOs). I began creating in this minature art form in the first half of 2007, and have enjoyed trading and selling these items. Each 2.5 x 3.5 inch (64 x 89 mm) card is either an original, digital original, or a limited (or open) edition print of an artist's work, and can be created in any medium.

Photography, digital style
I still have my first drop-in cartridge Kodak camera, and it still works despite being used for years as a "play camera" for my young son. And, I do have a few film cameras here, and some film stored in the refrigerator and on the shelves. What I'm sorry to admit is that the film in my fridge is well past its expiration date—but I can't seem to part with it, at least not just yet. I honestly don't know why, I haven't used film in my camera since 2005, but then again, I haven't been in a darkroom since 1995 and can't part with those darkroom supplies either. Go figure those emotional attachment to things! I'm a digital convert. Momma don't take my PhotoShop awayyyyyy....

Function follows design
I'm a big fan of making art both affordable and functional. This means that my photographic and non-photographic art can easily become a refrigerator or office magnet, sticky note holder, or greeting card. Of course, if you're interested in the design, and still have a preference for a framable piece to decorate your wall, I'm amenable to that, too. If you're interested in something a little more abstract, I have notebooks, marble coasters, trivets, and quadrivets.

Crocheting in wire and hanging with the beads
A couple of years ago, I began crocheting with seed beads and crochet thread, and then I saw an article about wire crochet, so of course, I had to try it...and put my own spin on it. Most artists who work in wire crochet do it as an open, free-form type stitch. I, on the other hand, use as fine a wire and hook as I can (without it breaking), and then use pliers to crimp the wire, usually into a thin chain or band. I also "play" with polymer and silver clay, and basic beading techniques to create some fun dangles. My most recent jewelry pursuits involve magnetic dangling earrings for those without pierced ears.
